Cookie Policy

Effective October 20, 2026. How https://historyallday.com uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them.

Effective date: October 20, 2026 Last updated: October 20, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Cupcakes Holdings LTD ("we", "us" or "our"), the publisher of History All Day, uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit historyallday.com and related services (the "Site"). It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and your rights to control our use of them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

Questions about this policy may be sent only to contact@historyallday.com.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, phone or other device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the owners of the site and to their partners.

Cookies have several characteristics:

  • First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting (in this case, historyallday.com).
  • Third-party cookies are set by a domain other than the one you are visiting, for example by an advertising or analytics partner whose code runs on the page.
  • Session cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period, or until you delete them, and are read each time you return.

2. Similar technologies

In addition to cookies, websites use a range of similar technologies. In this policy, "cookies" refers to all of them unless we say otherwise:

  • Local storage and session storage: browser storage areas that can hold larger amounts of data than cookies.
  • Pixels, web beacons and tags: tiny transparent images or snippets of code that record that a page or email was viewed, often used for measurement.
  • Scripts and SDKs: pieces of code from partners that run on the page to deliver ads, measure performance or detect fraud.
  • Device and advertising identifiers: identifiers assigned by your device or operating system, such as mobile advertising IDs.
  • Fingerprinting-resistant signals: information about your browser and device used by security providers to tell humans from bots. We do not use device fingerprinting for advertising purposes.

3. Why we use cookies

We use cookies to keep the Site secure and working, to remember your choices, to understand in aggregate how readers use the Site, and, where advertising is enabled, to show and measure the advertising that keeps History All Day free to read.

4. Categories of cookies we use

4.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Site to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as setting your privacy preferences, or by our infrastructure to protect the Site. They do not require your consent under the EU ePrivacy Directive, the UK PECR or similar laws.

Provider Purpose Typical duration
Cloudflare (hosting, CDN and security) Distinguishes humans from bots, mitigates attacks, applies rate limits and balances traffic Session to 1 year, depending on the cookie
History All Day (first party) Remembers your cookie consent choices so we do not ask again on every page Up to 12 months

4.2 Preference cookies

These cookies allow the Site to remember choices you make, such as consent settings or display preferences, to give you a more consistent experience. If you do not allow them, some features may not work as intended.

4.3 Analytics and performance cookies

Where enabled, these cookies help us count visits and traffic sources and understand, in aggregate, which stories are read, how long readers stay and how the Site performs. This information helps us decide what to write about and how to improve the Site. Where the law requires consent, these cookies are set only after you give it. We configure analytics, where possible, to minimise data collection, for example by truncating IP addresses.

4.4 Advertising and targeting cookies

Where advertising is enabled, these cookies are set by our advertising partners and their vendors. They may be used to:

  • deliver advertisements on the Site;
  • limit the number of times you see the same ad;
  • measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and attribute conversions;
  • detect and prevent ad fraud and invalid traffic; and
  • where you have consented or have not opted out (depending on where you live), build a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads on this and other sites.

These partners act under their own privacy policies and, in many cases, as independent controllers of the information they collect. Where we participate in an industry consent framework such as the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework, the list of participating vendors and their purposes will be shown in our consent tool.

4.5 Social media and embedded content

Some pages may include social sharing buttons or embedded content, such as videos, maps or posts, from third-party platforms. These platforms may set cookies or collect information when you interact with, or simply load, that content. Their use of information is governed by their own policies.

5. Your choices and how to control cookies

Consent tool. When you first visit the Site from a location where consent is required, a banner allows you to accept all, reject all non-essential, or customise cookies by category. You can change your mind at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Browser settings. Most browsers let you view, manage, block and delete cookies. Common browsers provide guidance in their help pages (for example Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge). Please note that blocking all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, may affect how the Site works.

Global Privacy Control. We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of targeted advertising and of the sale or sharing of personal information where the law of your place of residence gives effect to that signal.

Industry opt-out tools. You can opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at optout.aboutads.info (DAA), youronlinechoices.eu (EDAA) and optout.networkadvertising.org (NAI). These tools are cookie-based, so you may need to repeat the process if you clear cookies or use a different browser or device.

Mobile devices. Your device settings may allow you to reset your advertising identifier or limit ad tracking.

Do Not Track. Because there is no agreed industry standard for responding to Do Not Track signals, we do not respond to them separately. We do honour GPC as described above.

If you opt out of interest-based advertising you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised to your interests.

6. How long cookies last

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies last for the period set by the party that placed them, typically from a few minutes to up to 13 months, unless you delete them sooner. Our consent cookie is kept for up to 12 months, after which we will ask for your preferences again. Where the law requires, we refresh consent periodically.

7. Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example when we add or change partners or when the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version. Where changes are material and the law requires, we will ask for your consent again.

8. Contact

If you have any questions about our use of cookies or other technologies, please email contact@historyallday.com.
